It has a notable built heritage including nearly 500 listed buildings and ten conservation areas. The Council has an impressive track record in respect of conservation, having successfully operated three town centre Heritage and Economic Regeneration Schemes in recent years. It is currently working in partnership with English Heritage and Macclesfield Borough Council on a grant scheme for the Macclesfield Canal Conservation Area. We are looking for an experienced building conservation professional to continue driving forward the conservation and enhancement of the Borough’s heritage. You will be required to provide a full range of specialist advice on conservation, historic buildings and general design issues as well as leading on existing and future heritage partnership working. We are looking for a person with a qualification in building conservation, planning, architecture or urban design and experience in a local authority environment of listed building and conservation matters. Experience of managing enhancement projects is also essential. With a good working knowledge of building conservation techniques and of current conservation policy and legislation, you will have a commitment to team working and partnership development along with enthusiasm and an ability to work using initiative to tight deadlines.
