FReD needs your help! The Historic Buildings Fire Research Database (or FReD) was set up by English Heritage on behalf of the Historic Buildings Fire Research Co-ordinating Committee (HBFRCC) to foster the exchange of information on fire research relevant to historic buildings in order to aid the sharing of unpublished knowledge and encourage the development of joint research. The database has recently been redesigned to make it more user friendly, and is well used but its usefulness depends on the willingness of those active in the field to participate by contributing their own information. The database identifies contact points for all reported projects, whether planned, current or completed, as well as details of relevant published information. Any building owners or consultants who have any completed, current or planned research which is relevant to the treatment of historic buildings against fire can submit material by completing a standard proforma from the website.
