We own three historic houses, in Shropshire, Yorkshire and Devon, and responsible custodianship of these buildings is a substantial part of the Foundation’s work. For over 40 years, we have been inspiring and encouraging writers with our life-changing residential creative writing courses and retreats, for thousands of adults, schools and other community groups. Our work is aimed at writers of all levels and we provide significant financial support to ensure open access for all. We are now looking for a new trustee with significant experience of architecture and conservation to Chair our Properties Committee. He or she will take the lead in advising the Trustee Board and staff on the maintenance, conservation and development of our estate. The successful candidate must be committed to the aims and values of Arvon and we particularly welcome applications from candidates from ethnic minorities, or with disabilities. Candidates must be able to attend five Trustee meetings each year, including one weekend meeting, and to chair meetings of the Properties Committee, and be willing to visit our buildings.
