This is a dynamic reaction to the operating environment of the IHBC that we want to foster, not to curtail. Our planning is not about telling volunteers what to do.We do not have the resources, even if we wanted to do that. Instead it is about putting in the infrastructure to encourage volunteers to do what they want to do. For our members, that is to help the historic environment. The more closely our infrastructure and volunteers intentions map together, the better will be our support. That is why we are asking members for ideas to help us plan our future. We do not want to fast track change, as that presumes we know what people will do. Instead we want to facilitate the right sort of fast change. That is what our members know about. To succeed we need to understand the destination and drivers, the obstacles and opportunities. It is our members’ energy that has brought the IHBC to its current prominence. In our planning we want to provide the infrastructure to support our progress, not commit to building a road members may not want to travel.
